Organic Tomato: Marion Planting Instructions:
Marion Tomato plants prefer a soil pH of 6.2 to 6.8 and full sun. You can start seeds inside 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting. Plants will germinate best in temperatures between 75-90 F. Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and 1" apart. Before transplanting, harden off the young plants by reducing water and fertilizer. Do not expose them to cold temperatures. Doing so can stunt their growth. Keep transplants at a consistent 70 F to avoid shocking or stressing the plants. Transplant seedlings 2 to 3" apart. A cage or stake may help mature plants support the weight of the fruit.
Organic Tomato: Marion Harvesting Instructions:
Harvest tomatoes at full redness. Watch the bottoms of the tomatoes to gauge their ripeness, as tomatoes ripen from the bottom up. Waiting to harvest the tomatoes for too long can cause them to crack open. Harvest continually to prevent overloading the plants.
